Department of Atomic Energy Malaysia
Established in 1985, the main objective of this department is to ensure that the use of atomic energy in Malaysia is safe, secure and well controlled to protect the community, workers and the environment.
Many may have rarely heard of this agency, but in fact they play a very important role in ensuring the safety and control of the country’s atomic energy.
Among the main functions of the Department of Atomic Energy:
• Providing advice to the Minister and the Government of Malaysia on atomic energy matters.
• Controlling and supervising all activities using atomic energy in this country.
• Establishing scientific cooperation with domestic and foreign institutions.
• Implementing international obligations related to nuclear agreements or conventions.
• Carrying out other tasks in accordance with the Atomic Energy Licensing Act 1984.
Congratulations also to the Department of Atomic Energy for their initiative to care for the welfare of staff and visitors.
