Selangor Steps Up Public Safety with Mandatory AED Rollout Guidelines

Heart disease remains the leading cause of death in Malaysia, making quick emergency response critical. To address this, the Selangor state government is holding a key workshop this June to iron out potential challenges in making Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) mandatory across certain high-traffic public areas.

Led by State Public Health and Environment Committee Chairman Jamaliah Jamaluddin, the initiative aims to standardize guidelines across all 12 local councils, ensuring that new developments, sports venues, parks, and places of worship are equipped with these life-saving devices. Moving forward, the framework looks to bridge the gap between emergency services and immediate bystander care, significantly boosting survival rates when paired with proper CPR training.
